It is not likely to show up. They usually only go back 7 years. Some employers go back 10. If it's a misdemeanor, I wouldn't worry about it. If it was a felony involving violence or something ual, then that could be a problem. The "extensive background check" probably involves other areas other other than criminal - such as credit, driving record or education.
