Would you give up all your opposite friends for a jealous (aka insecure) mate?

I have had an established female friend admittedly end our friendship because of her boyfriend's jealous nature. God, who would want to be with someone so insecure? I took this hard as I felt very close to her. Another long-time female friend began to distance herself with the appearance of a boyfriend. She has never said anything, but she doesn't have to. There simply is no friendship as long as he is around. I think it stinks, you see, because my wife has had male friends and I am secure enough in myself that I don't perceive that as a threat. I value friendship and i don't like when it is brushed aside for petty reasons like jealousy.
